Work and travel – digital nomads
Nowadays it has become possible for people to run businesses from outside offices and almost anywhere around the globe as long as internet connection is available. Digital nomads are the people embracing this trend and taking it to the next level by making it into a lifestyle choice.
Digital nomads are described by many as people who use today’s telecommunication technologies to work online while travelling – or in other words, enjoying the nomadic lifestyle, but still connected to the world of work and commerce. The types of jobs vary from programmer and affiliate marketer to language teacher.
Regardless of the actual job, digital nomads have one thing in common. They depend on technology. Digital nomads invariably possess a high-performing and flexible laptop, ultra-reliable smartphone, portable hard drives, chargers, not to mention other job specific devices such as high end camera equipment. Because they are constantly on the move, they need devices which are sturdy, resilient and secure.
With the increasing nomadic workforce, fewer people are going to be physically present in the office for large amounts of the time. Companies are able to use office space more efficiently and grow without having to add large and expensive office space. The trend is impacting office supply and technology providers, as there are changes in office needs and behaviours.
In the end, few people remain digital nomad nomads indefinitely, and finally succumb by putting down roots. However, as this trend keeps on getting more attention, new adopters will keep on emerging in the future.
